The Location – Our Thompson Place Cottage is walking distance to Dutchies Beach by strolling through a laneway at the end of the street and turning left onto Christmas Bush Ave. Dutchies Beach is for calm water swimming, picnics, BBQ's and also has a playground so it’s the perfect spot to bring the kiddies! Or in a couple of minutes drive you’ll hit the Nelson Bay’s main beach. You will find kayak and SUP hire at both of these beaches during the warmer months. The tree-lined and very pleasant "Bridle Path" that skirts the calm waters of Port Stephens is also very close by and great for the morning walk, jog or bike ride. Further afield are the main shopping centre of Salamander Bay or the many fabulous beaches of One Mile, Fingal and Birubi, all patrolled during the summer months.

Indulge yourself down to Nelson Bay Marina and the township, to enjoy an evening meal or a refreshing drink while you contemplate your next adventure. Perhaps take the kids down for an ice-cream at the Marina and watch the fishing boats coming into the bay as the sun goes down. You will also find The Nelson Bay CBD and marina a convenient place to book your dolphin-watching cruises, departing daily, whale watching adventures between mid-May and mid-November plus boat hire and children's attractions during school holiday periods.

The Cottage – This quaint pet friendly cottage on Thompson Place is the ideal location to holiday in Nelson Bay. Minutes away from the beach or the shops, this two-bedroom house feels hidden within the trees so you can enjoy the nearby conveniences and your privacy. Park your two cars, one behind the other, in our car port and walk across the gorgeous gardens surrounding the home. Two decks are primely placed, with a BBQ, table and chairs, which is picture-perfect for eating dinner or enjoying a cup of tea while watching the courtyard and the wind breeze through the luscious greenery. Or experience a night around the campfire in your own backyard with our firepit and small log stumps to sit upon.

Up the steps of the deck, you’ll find our home away from home. The open plan living and dining area is provided with an air conditioning system and ceiling fans, along with a Smart flat-screen television (you will need to connect to your own device/data as there is no wi-fi). The rustic décor compliments the room. When crossing over from the carpeted lounge room to the polished timber floors of the dining room you can enter the fully equipped kitchen which supplies a breakfast nook, full fridge and freezer, microwave, oven, dishwasher, and a pod coffee machine.

Entering the main bedroom, the cute and cozy décor of wooden furniture and wide mirror compliment the queen-sized bed, as well as a ceiling fan for those extra toasty nights. The second bedroom which works well as a study, is perfect for the little one with smaller furniture, a floral decorated mirror, a set of drawers and a single bed.

The bathroom supports a large glass shower with many towel racks and shelves, a wide vanity and shelves to keep all your toiletries neatly placed. There is a separate water closet as well, along with an internal washer, and a clothesline on the deck.
