The Location - This property is positioned in a prime location, set in a quiet street and only two blocks away from Nelson Bay CBD. It's central location means that guests are ideally placed for the towns vibrant and lively atmosphere, be spoilt for choice with a myriad of life style options at your doorstep. Take a stroll into Nelson bay (approx 500m) where you will find interesting and enjoyable retail establishments including boutique shopping, cafes and restaurants. d'Albora Marina is 600m from house and offers more eateries and a selection of water based activities including our very popular dolphin watch cruises. If you are a golf enthusiast then Nelson Bay Golf Club is less than 1km away, a 27 hole championship golf course on the skirt of the Tomaree National Park. The closest beach is Dutchmans Bay (known to locals as Dutchies Beach) which is only 650m from the house. It is a pretty bay with a shaded sandy beach and in the reserve you will find picnic tables, BBQ's, public amenities and a lovely children's play ground on the west end of the bay. A little further on is Bagnall Beach (approx 1km from house) which is an off-leash dog beach and also offers pleasant reserves along the beach with playgrounds, tables and BBQ's.

The House - This fantastic Queenslander style house is staged over two levels with a peaceful leafy outlook set on more than 900sqm. It has trendy interiors boasting with neutral colours, stainless steel finishes and an indulgence of space. The huge light filled open plan living area which is highlighted by rich polished floorboards and paneled windows offers guests room to relax and entertain with a spacious wrap-around kitchen with an abundance of bench space to entertain. The fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, microwave, oven and a full fridge/freezer, including a cleverly designed walk in pantry. The dining and living area accompany the kitchen and features, Wi-fi and a large flat screen TV. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor, the master bedroom is fitted with a queen size bed, ceiling fan, a roomy walk in robe, access to the covered courtyard, a private toilet and vanity including private access to the main bathroom which offers a corner shower, standard size bath and vanity. Bedroom two also offers a queen size bed with access to the veranda. There is also another powder room on this level.

Upstairs has been thoughtfully designed for family living offering a second living area with paneled doors opening out to the front timber deck. There are three other bedrooms on the upper level delivering the right combination of convenience and space, one of the bedroom offers a queen size bed with the other two bedrooms featuring two single beds in each room. The modern bathroom upstairs offers a shower and vanity with the toilet located separately.

The covered courtyard offers plenty of space with a gas BBQ and outdoor furnishings and is conveniently fenced as this property is also pet friendly. The laundry is accessed from the courtyard and includes a washing machine and dryer plus a bonus shower and toilet. Other great features to this huge holiday home is a double garage with another shower and toilet, there is a storage area off the courtyard and plenty of storage space for your jet ski, surf boards or golf clubs in the garage. There is also an outdoor games room with a large pool table and dart board plus extra parking in the driveway for a third vehicle and boat parking to suit a large trailer boat. There are definitely smoke alarms at this property.

    This character filled house is a great rental option for families or small groups in a very convenient location- walk to shops, coastal pathway, beach and dog beach. There is spacious off street parking for 3-4 cars, two fully secure outdoor areas for pets, including a private courtyard surrounded by trees and birds with outdoor dining and lounging furniture, A great bonus is the “games area” with pool table and dart board. The kitchen is modern and has really great crockery, cookware and cutlery - no need to bring anything from home. A big modern fridge and family sized oven. The layout of the house works well, with two double bedrooms on ground, one with ensuite plus extra toilet. Upstairs are three more rooms, a study and separate living area with lovely furniture, beanbags and children’s board games/videos. Good ventilation and fly screens, multiple fans provided, as is all linen. There is no air con, which is the one draw back of this great property in very hot or humid weather - otherwise I highly recommend this property and the rental process was easy and without any problems whatsoever. There are many activities in the area - Bagnalls Beach is dog friendly (the best ever !), Dutchies beach and picnic area, walk/cycle way along the coast, the marina for fresh seafood to cook on your own big BBQ back at the house, ice cream, coffee shops, Mt Tomaree walk, Toboggan/fun park right next to the public pool and parklands (4-5 ovals in a row!), golf course, sand dunes, dolphin/whale watching. Friendly town with easy parking and not too much traffic. What are you waiting for !

    Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The house is spacious and in a quiet area, within walking distance to Nelson Bay shops and Marina.
    The upstairs rooms were good and much cleaner than those downstairs.
    However, certain areas of the house are a little tired and require attention. The downstairs bathroom lock (toilet/sink closest to kitchen) was broken and I cut my arm badly on the first day. The carpets in the two downstairs bedrooms were badly soiled and covered in dog hair. The TV in the downstairs bedroom didn't work. There was also a lot of dog hair under the furniture in the living room, despite the requirement that dogs remain outside. The downstairs bathroom shower was also very mouldy and needed a better clean. The Kitchen drawers also had food spilt in them, which was off-putting when we arrived.

    On arriving at the house we found that the cleaning had not been done after the previous tenants, so contacted the property management. They organised cleaners who did come within the hour, but we had to vacate the premises for this time.
